About
Amanda Kutz, PhD
It is a great privilege that as part of my job I get to hear people's stories about their lives. Everyone has a story that is uniquely theirs. At the same time, we are all trying to navigate the complexities and challenges of being human in a world that increasingly encourages disconnection from ourselves.

Working together

People often come to therapy hoping to fix or change something- an emotion, a behavior pattern, a way of being. While therapy does involve making changes, it often does not come from working harder but making shifts in how we relate to our internal states.
Learning to welcome and be with your own inner experiences with compassion, including difficult ones, can give you the sense of inner steadiness you may be seeking. Being able to be more present with yourself can also help you embody your most authentic self.

In therapy, I aim to offer a space that is grounded in curiosity, is attentive and prioritizes safety. Our work together is collaborative- we work will work as a team to help you move towards your goals.

Training & Background

I received my PhD in clinical psychology in 2016. My experience has spanned working across a variety of systems- healthcare, the justice system, community mental health, and academic and research settings. In private practice, I offer individual psychotherapy and meditation practices in-person in Utah and virtually to 40+ states through the interjurisdictional license, PSYPACT. I'm originally from the East Coast and like many transplants, relocated to Salt Lake City because of my love for being in the mountains.
